Leaving the Classroom
There will always be a need for classroom training. Some training is simply not effective when presented online. In addition, a lot of training requires hands-on exercises, group activities, or other things that are difficult to translate to eLearning. However, when it does make sense, it really makes sense.
Here are some of the advantages of web-based training:
- If students have to travel for training, you can reduce or eliminate these costs.
- If you reduce or fully convert your instructor-led training to the web, you will save money on expensive instructors.
- Students get the same experience and the same information every time.
- Students can take the class whenever they want instead of having to fit in a rigid classroom schedule. They can also easily take a course refresher.
- Students learn at their own pace instead of trying to keep up with the instructor or waiting for them to move on to something the students don’t already know.
- Classroom training can typically be converted to eLearning in a three- or four-to-one ratio. This means that every three or four hours of classroom time can be reduced to a single hour of eLearning. This is less time for your students to be away from their primary job, while still giving them the exact knowledge they need, increasing the overall productivity of your company.
